Good fortuneWhile success in real estate depends on many factors, including choosing the right real estate agent, the current market conditions and the condition and location of the property itself, there’s a few tricks that property owners can use to boost their luck!

People have been looking for divine intervention with their real estate transactions and properties for centuries, turning to everything from crystals to Catholic saints! Some of these methods involve buying and selling a piece of real estate while other luck-enhancing techniques aim to improve the luck of the occupants of a home.

In the spirit of the lucky Irish four-leaf clover, here’s four ideas you can use to help create your own luck with your real estate investment!

Designing and Decorating Your Home For Luck

For thousands of years people have been designing their homes to attract good fortune – this practice is commonly known as “Feng Shui”, the ancient Chinese art of arranging furnishings, doors, windows and decorative items in a particular way that’s meant to improve luck.

Feng Shui home designAccording to the rules of Feng Shui, placing fresh flowers in your home or office is an easy way to attract positive energy and good fortune – just be sure to avoid flowers with thorny stems (such as roses), since the stems can interfere with the flow of positive energy known as ‘chi’.

The color of your door can also influence your luck – Feng Shui dictates that south-facing outside doors should be painted bright red or orange and north-facing doors be black or blue to maximize the luck of the home’s occupants. If the exterior door faces west, it should be painted gray or white, while east-facing outside doors should be colored either green or brown.

Feng Shui principles also apply to both the placement of staircases and the number of steps those stairs should have – ideally, a staircase would have 1,2,5, 10, 13, 14, 17 or 22 steps. The staircase should never be placed opposite the front door of a home, as this provides positive energy and good luck with an easy escape. Feng Shui followers also advise against placing a staircase across from bathroom or bedroom doorways, and spiral stairs are to be avoided on the basis that positive energy can become trapped within the spirals, blocking luck from reaching the occupants of the home.

Homeowners who have a front door opening onto a stairway can improve the luck in their home without going to the trouble and expense of relocating their stairs. The cure for poor stairway placement is to simply hang a small crystal, wind chime or other energy-diffusing decoration between the bottom step of the staircase and the front door. This will spread out and disperse the good, ‘Chi’ energy as it travels down the stairs, preventing it from escaping out the front door!

Why choose a RealtorOther simple Fung Shui luck-attracting home design ideas include hanging purple drapes or using a purple bedspread, since purple was the traditional color of royalty. Green is the color of money, so always include a live green plant in your home (since you want your money to grow), and to enhance the unobstructed flow of wealth into your life, keep your home as clean and clutter-free as possible, since obstacles like excess furniture can block lucky energy

Selling A Home? Buy & Bury a Statute of Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph is billed as “the Patron Saint of Real Estate”, leading many home sellers to turn to this former carpenter for divine intervention with their real estate woes! The practice involves planting a small St. Joseph statue, upside down, in the lawn or garden of the home while simultaneously asking Saint Josephfor some divine intervention – the only catch is, the statue must be dug up once the house sells, and taken with the owner to their new residence where it will be kept in a place of honor within the home.

Known for his work with wood, St. Joseph (also known by Spanish-speakers as San Jose, and as San Giuseppe by Italians) is rumored to bring good luck to anyone who wants to sell their home quickly (and for a good price, of course).

The connection between St. Joseph and real estate goes back to the Middle Ages, when an order of European nuns was said to have buried a medal of the carpenter-turned-saint on a piece of land they hoped to acquire as the site of their new convent. These nuns asked the saint to intervene, and soon after, they were able to negotiate the purchase of their desired property. Other stories claim that German carpenters would bury a statue of St. Joseph in the foundation of the buildings they constructed, praying that the saint would protect the structure.

It seems that the tradition of burying a plastic St. Joseph to speed up the sale of a property became popular in the United States during the mid-1980’s; at that time, many real estate agents were buying these little plastic statues by the case! Since then, many homeowners have credited the success of their sale to the Saint, and this luck-attracting tradition remains popular among Catholics and non-Catholics alike. St. Joseph home seller kits can be readily found at many religious supply outlets; Amazon even offers a number of different statues to choose from!

The exact location of where the St. Joseph statue should be buried is up for debate – some say that it’s important to place the statue upside-down, about 12″ below the earth between the real estate ‘for sale’ sign and the street, as this will encourage sellers to come onto the property. Others claim that the statue should be buried in the garden close to the foundation of the building, as this will attract money and buyers to the site. Condo-dwellers are advised to plant their St. Joseph statue in a flower pot on their balcony or inside their unit rather than burying the statue on the lawn of the building, as this might attract a buyer for a neighboring unit instead of their own!

Boost Your Luck With An Amish Barn Star

Amish barn star for luckFive-point metal barn stars are a common site among Amish communities and German farming communities, where farmers would hang these large, eye-catching ornaments on the side of their barns as a way to attract good luck to their families. Traditionally crafted from scraps of leftover roofing tile tin, barn stars.

Also known as Pennsylvania stars or rustic tin stars, these symbols of good fortune have been adorning the sides of American farm buildings for more than 300 years. Following the Civic War, stars were often placed on large industrial buildings in a quest to attract luck to the factory owner and protect the workers against injuries.

Growing numbers of non-Amish homeowners have also embraced the tradition of decorating their homes, garages and outbuildings with these rustic, simple metal stars, which can now be found across the country in both rural and urban settings.

Barn stars come in a wide variety of colors, with each color said to provide different types of protection and luck for the owners of the property where it is displayed. While all Amish tin stars are said to attract prosperity and good fortune, copper is the color that is most often associated with abundance in investments, career and luck. Green means growth, while black barn stars are the choice of homeowners and farmers who want protection from misfortune; often property owners will hang numerous different barn stars on their buildings as a way to attract different kinds of luck to themselves and their family members.

Attract Wealth With Citrine Stones

Citrine stonesIf you are looking to attract more wealth, prosperity and positivity into your home or business, consider placing a few citrine stones in the back corner of the building as a way to draw money in and improve your luck when it comes to finances.

Often referred to as “The Merchant’s Stone,” this small, golden-yellow colored semi-transparent crystal is renowned for being able to attract good fortune to people around it; historically, many shopkeepers have kept a small citrine stone inside their cash box or vault to improve the flow of money into their business, while others carry this stone in their wallet or purse.

Thanks to it’s golden yellow color, citrine, a form of quartz, is said to carry the power of the sun; it is purported to be protective against negative influences and energy as it works to diffuse negative thoughts, feelings and factors that could be working to block the attraction of luck, wealth and success.

Many entrepreneurs and people who work from home place a small bowl filled with citrine crystals near their computers or inside their office to attract money and success, while people who frequently drive for business have been known to keep a piece of citrine inside their vehicle as a way to carry their good luck with them on the road.
